How To Wash Your Hair
If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably been washing your hair wrong and had absolutely no idea. Don’t worry, I’ll give you step-by-step instructions on how to properly wash your hair so that your hair is stronger, healthier and can go longer in between washes.
You can see a major difference in my hair (other than the color). Applying the correct way to wash, along with incredible products has transformed my postpartum hair.
HOW TO PROPERLY WASH YOUR HAIR:
Step 1: brush your dry hair before showering to remove any tangles
Step 2: shake your shampoo well & emulsify in between your hands. Use a dime to quarter size of product and emulsify in hands with a little bit of warm water to activate & heat up product before applying
Step 3: Apply shampoo to scalp & roots only. Gently massage with your fingertips & let the lather run throughout the ends of your hair
Step 4: Shampoo twice. The first wash removes excess dirt & buildup. The second wash will get your hair clean & penetrate the scalp. The suds will run down the rest of your hair, getting it clean
Step 5: Gently squeeze out excess water before applying conditioner. Apply conditioner to mid-shaft & down, in sections so that it’s even. Letting the conditioner sit for 3-5 minutes will allow it to soften & smooth your hair, making it shinier once it’s dry. Rinse condition thoroughly will cool water
Step 6: Using a microfiber towel is key to not cause damage to your hair
Step 7: Use a detangler because your hair is most fragile when wet. Brush from ends to roots
Step 8: Apply post shower products to very towel dried hair
Step 9: Always use heat protectant. Keep all tools under 350F to prevent damage to your hair
It’s so important to use the correct products for your hair type. No matter your hair, avoid products with sulfates & silicones. If you’re interested in getting a custom hair care regime with the products I use, fill out this hair quiz and I will be in touch in 24-48 hours.
